Over the past few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about one idea. The baton.<\/span><\/p>\n

The baton is a symbol of leadership, metaphor for continuity, responsibility and the unseen transition between one runner and the next. <\/span>Somewhere along that line of thought, curiosity led me into a very different world.<\/span><\/p>\n

I found myself at the Advancing Green Transformation (GX) through Malaysia\u2013Japan AI Semiconductor Forum<\/strong>, a gathering that brought together industry leaders, policymakers, researchers and technology experts from both Malaysia and Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

I arrived with a simple mindset. I wan to observe, to listen and to understand an industry that sits slightly outside my usual space.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conversations were deeply technical. The AI, semiconductors, chip design and the future of digital infrastructure. As the discussions unfolded, the focus gradually shifted from technology to something more fundamental.<\/span><\/p>\n

People.<\/span><\/p>\n

The thinkers behind the innovation, t<\/span>he builders behind the systems and t<\/span>he ecosystem behind the progress.<\/span><\/p>\n

It became clear that Malaysia\u2019s role in the semiconductor space is evolving. Beyond assembly and testing, there is a growing push toward higher-value innovation. Collaborations such as those between Oppstar<\/strong> and Japanese partners like Tokyo Artisan Intelligence (TAI)<\/strong> reflect this shift towards developing next-generation AI chips for Edge AI applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet what stayed with me was not only the technology itself, also <\/span>the reminder that innovation only moves as far as people are prepared to carry it. The s<\/span>kills, talent, capability, collaboration and the ecosystem.\u00a0<\/span>These are the foundation, not the supporting elements of innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming from an engineering background and now working across innovation, competency development and leadership, I find myself returning to a simple truth.\u00a0<\/span>The future belongs to those who <\/span> are willing to keep stepping into unfamiliar rooms and learning anyway. T<\/span>hat is where perspective begins to expand.<\/span><\/p>\n

What starts as a search for a baton slowly becomes something bigger. <\/span>A clearer view of the race itself. <\/span>A deeper understanding of direction. <\/span>A reminder that leadership is things receiving the baton and recognizing the future it points to.<\/span><\/p>\n
